Bewick Gleanings - Julia Boyd 1886 (reprinting)

Of the numerous books about Thomas Bewick, the great Newcastle artist, this work by Julia Boyd is one of the best. She was the daughter of a Novocastrian who, as a boy, had known Bewick, and her book is based on local knowledge. It contains, along with impressions from many Bewick wood blocks, fine specimens of his work on copper plates. The book is valuable for it's wealth of illustrations. 

Published in 1886 the work has long been a collector's piece. It is now reprinted in facsimile for the first time.
